Come participate in a meeting about the safety of our students. The first meeting of the Edison Regional Gifted Center Local School Council's Safety & Security Committee.
Please come prepared to participate in a frank and open discussion about safety and security. We will have the opportunity to hear from Edison Gifted parents who have experience in law enforcement. This LSC Committee will be making recommendations on maximizing the safety and security of all the students and staff in our building. Anyone interested in school safety is encouraged to volunteer for this committee.
This LSC Committee meeting will provide you with an opportunity to make a difference on an important issue.

Discussion of ways to improve safety and security:
I. Parent Volunteer Activities:
Outside the Building helpers for bus riders and for walkers Inside the Building hallway helpers (in addition to lunchroom monitors and recess monitors)
Coordination of Parent Volunteers
II. Work with the Community
Attendance at Albany Park CAPS meetings; Outreach to the Alderman’s office; Coordination with other CPS school and local institutions on safety issues
III. Anti-Bullying Issues
Need for a school anti-bullying policy
Consider forming a Sub-committee to focus on anti-bullying issues
IV. Open to additional suggestion of ways to improve safety and security
Draft Specific Recommendations for Committee to present at the August 20th LSC Meeting
